Preston
Manor - steeped in history...
If
you enjoyed the Brighton Royal Pavilion, it’s also worth popping into Preston
Manor, which is a historical feature initially built around the 1600’s. There
are over 20 rooms to explore in the tour and a fee is chargeable. You should
also note that the Manor is closed during the winter (between October and
March). It's often said that Preston Manor is one of Brighton's hidden gems, and
one well worth a visit during your stay in Brighton.
It's
a classic example of a perfectly kept Edwardian home.

Preston
Manor was originally developed in 1600, although it saw refurbishments in 1738
and 1905. The house was owned by the Stanfords who built their wealth mainly
through real estate.
Aside
from the home, which you can explore in full, there are also some lovely lawn
gardens which make the entire estate a wonderful sight as you approach.
Inside
the rooms all have certain themes - for instance, the morning room (actually a
study), Cleves room (the name derives from the painting of Anne of Cleves which
hangs here), and so on.
